It is cliched pseudo-wisdom : 50 is the new 40.
Meaning that if you are 50 years of age, consider yourself to be a mere 40. That means, of course, that you must enjoy life accordingly.
I find this to be contrary to common sense.
Say you are batting in a keenly contested T20 match. You are playing the 15th over and have mentally geared up accordingly. You know you are at the slog overs which will make or mar your chances of victory.
Now say your teammate gestures to you that you are not playing the 15th over, but in effect, the 10th over. Come on man, relax. Just chill.
Sheer lunacy.
As we claw ever closer to the finish line, we cannot fool ourselves into thinking otherwise.
Welcome age for what it is. An indicator that the slog overs are at hand.
Play accordingly.
50 is the new 40? Nay, not for me. Better be 40 is the new 50.
